CodCon and Pulp Cthulhu

I'm quite pleased to announce that I will be a Guest of Honor at the CodCon convention held at the College of DuPage in Illinois. This is a wonderful gaming convention, with myriad RPG, board, card, and miniatures opportunities. For those interested in playing a few games of Pulp Cthulhu, do drop by the convention. There will be more posts, as the con is April 11th - 13th, 2008.

I will be there running some Pulp Cthulhu and Call of Cthulhu demo games, and there will be plenty of Call of Cthulhu products and fiction books in the dealer's hall -- and a few giveaways. At the moment the schedule is not set, so keep an eye on CodCon's site, or here for future information.

Now, what's up with the undersea, Lovecraftian critter image? Don't know. Can anyone come up with a story for it? Maybe 1000-1200 words? I might be able to work into a Call of Cthulhu scenario at CodCon (feel free to email or post questions). As for the photograph, I took it in New York City your while at the Museum of Natural History (famous now for one book based on it, and a series of Pendergast novels that center around the museum. If you've not read them, do take the time.

Congrats on the Guest of Honor invite. Sounds like fun. I'm headed for a short Con in Baton Rouge in a few weeks. I also enjoy them.

Charles,

Thanks! Enjoy the con at Baton Rouge.

My goal is to get to a con out west. Maybe next year I can do it.

Okay! It is on my calendar now. Glen Ellyn is only about 35 miles from my home. Thanks for the post!

Jeff,

You're quite a bit closer than I am! I look forward to see you at the convention.

Unfortunately I can not attend this. You should see if a con could stop in Iowa, preferably northeastern Iowa. Let's say Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, somewhere closer to me damn it! :-)

Anyway, what's this about writing a story about that creepy looking tentacled beast picture you have posted? I'm all for it, but where should I send the story? Curious. And thanks for the opprotunity!

Lucas,

I'm certain there has to be a convention near you some time in the future. It's only a matter of time. :)

Regarding the picture and the short, short story. People have been sending me tales that involve, or have a guest appearance by, the creature in the photograph. Basically, I'm looking for a brief tale that I will convert into an adventure to be used at CodCon. So I'll worry about the RPG material, and those who submit ideas only need to worry about a clever idea/story.

I suspect I'll be using a few ideas from several stories, and I'll send everyone hard copies of the adventure after it is written.
